Pattern of Examination for TNSET

i. The TNSET would be conducted in the pattern of UGC-NET. Accordingly, the test will consist of two papers as in UGC-NET.

ii. The test will consist of two papers, Paper I and Paper II. Paper I will be common to all the candidates, while Paper II will be based on the PG subject chosen by the candidates (as given in the TNSET list of subjects) . Both the papers are only of objective type and multiple choice questions (MCQ) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. There will be no break between the papers.

Marks : 100
Number of Questions : 50
MCQ : Paper I tests to assess the general knowledge, teaching capabilities, research aptitude, reasoning ability, reading comprehension, higher education system, people and development, environment, mathematical aptitude, divergent thinking and general awareness of the Candidate.

Papers : Paper II
Marks : 200
Number of Questions : 100
MCQ : Paper II tests the understanding of the domain knowledge of the candidate in the PG subject chosen from the list of TNSET subjects.

Total duration : 03 hours (180 minutes) without any break. All the questions are compulsory.

iii. The medium of Question Paper shall be in English only except Paper II of language subjects (Tamil, Arabic, Hindi, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Telugu and Urdu).
iv. There is no negative mark for incorrect answers.

Examination Rules of TNSET

a. Using someone to write Examination (impersonation) or preparing material for copying;
b. Breaching Examination rules or any direction issued by State Nodal Agency in connection with TNSET.
c. Assisting other candidate to engage in malpractices, giving or receiving assistance directly or indirectly of any kind or attempting to do so.
d. Writing questions or answers on any material given by the Centre Superintendent for writing answers.
e. Contacting or communicating or trying to do so with any person, other than the Examination Staff, during the Examination time in the Examination Centre.
f. Threatening any of the officials connected with the conduct of the Examination or threatening any of the candidates.
g. Using or attempting to use any other undesirable method or means in connection with the examination.
h. Manipulation and fabrication of online documents viz. Hall Ticket, Self-Declaration, etc.
i. Forceful entry in /exit from Examination Centre/Hall.
j. Use or attempted use of any electronic device after entering the Examination Centre.
k. Affixing/uploading of wrong/morphed photographs/signatures on the Application Form/Hall Ticket /Performa.
l. Creating obstacles in smooth and fair conduct of examination.

m. In case it is found at any time in future that the Candidate has used / uploaded the photograph and signature of someone else in his/ her Application Form / Hall Ticket or he/she has tampered his/her Hall Ticket / result, these acts of the candidate shall be treated as Unfair Means (UFM) Practices on his/her part and he/she shall be proceeded with the actions as contemplated under the provisions of the Information Bulletin relating to Unfair Means Practices.

n. Candidates are NOT allowed to carry Instruments, Geometry or Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, any kind of Paper/ Stationery/ Textual material (printed or written material), Eatables (loose or packed), Mobile Phone/ Earphone/ Microphone/ Pager, Calculator, Docu Pen, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Camera, Tape Recorder, Electronic Watches with facilities of calculator, any metallic item or electronic gadgets/ devices in the Examination Hall/Room.

o. Smoking, chewing gutka, spitting etc. in the Examination Room/Hall is strictly prohibited.

p. If any candidate is in possession of any of the above item, his/ her candidature will be treated as unfair means and lead to cancellation of the current Examination & also debar the candidate for future examination(s) & the material will be seized. In any violation of the above by the candidate, the decision of the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University is final.
