What is Assam Judicial Service Grade-I Exam?
Gauhati High Court has been pleased to notify that the Preliminary Examination (OMR based Objective Type Questions with Multiple Choices) for direct recruitment to Grade-I of Assam Judicial Service, 2023, will be held as per the schedule indicated below:
Date : 24-09-2023 (Sunday)
Time/Duration : 10.00 AM to 12.00
Place of Examination : Guwahati
Specific venue of the examination will be indicated in the Admit Cards.

How to Download Assam Judicial Service Grade-I Exam Admit Card?
To Download Admit Card for Preliminary Written Examination for Direct Recruitment to Grade-I of Assam Judicial Service, 2023, follow the bellow steps.

N.B.: All fields marked [*] are mandatory
Admit Cards may be downloaded from official website of the Gauhati High Court w.e.f. 19-09-2023 (3.00 pm onwards). Syllabus of the Preliminary Examination has already been provided in the advertisement dated 18-05-2023. A provisional list of candidates with assigned Roll Numbers and a reject list along with reason for selection have been published along with this notification.
Candidates of the provisional list have been allowed to appear in the Preliminary Examination subject to the condition that their candidature will continue to be under scrutiny. The Gauhati High Court reserves the right to reject the candidature of any candidate on detection of any ineligibility condition at any stage.
Syllabus of Assam Judicial Service Grade-I Exam
Preliminary Examination (Screening test) shall consist of objective type questions of 100 marks, out of which 90 marks will cover General Knowledge, Aptitude, English, Constitution of India, Code of Civil Procedure, Code of Criminal Procedure, Indian Penal Code, Transfer of Property Act, Indian Evidence Act, Limitation Act, Legal Theories of Jurisprudence, Arbitration & Conciliation Act, Indian Contract Act, Family Law, Specific Relief Act, Motor Vehicle Act, Industrial & Labour Law,Land Acquisition Act, Law Relating to Trust, Indian Registration Act, Court Fees Act, and remaining 10 marks to test the proficiency in the Official Language(s) of the State of Assam.
Selection Criteria of Judicial Service Grade-I Exam
The selection process for the aforesaid post consists of a Preliminary Examination (Screening Test), a Main (Written) Examination and a Viva Voce/Interview and details of the same is shown below.
Preliminary Examination :
Preliminary Examination will be of 100 marks on OMR Answer Scripts (Objective Type Multiple Choices) of 2 (two) hours duration. Syllabus of the Preliminary Examination has been enclosed with the Advertisement.
Those candidates who will secure 60% or more marks in the Preliminary Examination shall be eligible for appearing in the Main Examination. Provided that the ratio on the basis of which the candidates will be called for the Main (Written) Examination shall be 1:10. (for one post 10 candidates will be called), i.e. from amongst the candidates who have secured minimum 60% or more marks in the Preliminary Examination.
Main (Written) Examination will consists of 4 (four) papers (Descriptive type). Detailed syllabus of the Main (Written) Examination has been enclosed with the Advertisement.
Main (Written) Examination :
All candidates who obtain 60% or more aggregate marks in the Main Written Examination subject to securing at least 45% marks in individual Paper-I, II & III and minimum 35% marks in the Official Language Paper (Paper- IV) shall be eligible for Viva Voce.
The marks secured in the language paper shall be qualifying in nature and shall not be counted in the aggregate marks secured by the candidates in the examination for the purpose of final selection.
