Exam Pattern & Syllabus
Exam Pattern :
The OPSC Medical Officer Written Examination is a multiple-choice question (MCQ) based exam. It consists of 200 questions carrying 1 mark each. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The exam is conducted in a single shift of 3 hours, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Syllabus :
The syllabus for the OPSC Medical Officer Written Examination is based on the MBBS syllabus prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI). It covers a wide range of topics, including:

FAQ on OPSC Examination
How can I apply for a post advertised by the OPSC ?
A candidate can apply for a post Online only. The Web portal of the Commission, especially, for this purpose is – www.opsc.gov.in
Can candidates make changes in their applications after they have submitted them ?
No. Applications once submitted are final and no changes can be made after submission.
How can I get information regarding the syllabus for the Examination ?
The syllabus and the Scheme of Examination are published on the OPSC’s Web portal – www.opsc.gov.in for the examination along with advertisement for the recruitment.
How shall I get information regarding Interviews ?
The call letter to be downloaded on login by the candidate in OPSC Web portal. Notice is issued on the OPSC Web portal for the dates of availability.
What documents should I carry at the time of Interview ?
The candidates are informed about the list of documents required to be produced at the time of Document Verification which is held 8-10 days ahead of the Interview, as stipulated in the concerned advertisement.
Can I carry my mobile, laptop or any other communication devices, with me for the Interview ?
No. such gadgets are strictly prohibited in the Campus of OPSC, No arrangement is made by OPSC for safe keeping of these articles.
Can my parents / Guardians accompany me to the Commission for Document Verification / Interview.
There is no embargo in such accompaniment to the candidates. However, there is very limited waiting facility available within the Commission.
How are candidates assessed by the Interview Boards ?
(a) The objective of the interview is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for the post for which he/she has been called for interview. The idea is to judge the candidate through a fair and impartial assessment and award marks based on his/her overall performance.
(b) The interview is not merely a test of knowledge (whether general or in subject matter) but an attempt to assess the potential of the individual for being shaped into a competent, dedicated and honest officer who can be entrusted with the tasks and responsibilities associated with public service.
(c) Candidates are judged on the basis of their overall records (educational qualifications, knowledge, experience, interests, activities etc.) and performance in the interview. However, marks are awarded on an overall basis and not on individual attributes separately.
What is the composition of the Interview Board ?
An Interview Board is headed by a Chairman, who is generally assisted by 1-2 Members/Advisers who are Experts in their respective filed(s)/ discipline(s) at the discretion of the Commission.
When the answer keys of examinations involving OMR sheets, marks secured by candidates, category-wise cut-off mark etc. are displayed in the website of the Commission ?
In the absence of any legal impediments, information related to category and sex-wise number of candidates selected and qualifying marks/ highest marks/lowest marks/percentage of marks / Subjective-wise marks /total marks etc. secured by the candidates and answer keys of examinations involving OMR sheets shall be supplied through the website of the Commission or under RTI Act, 2005 only after declaration of final result of the recruitment tests.
